We want to hear from you! We'd like to hear what you think about us being on the Internet! What do you think about our school! Who's your favorite teacher? Your favorite subject? Your least favorite subject?
And we'd like you to send us stuff you've drawn, stories you've written, poems you've thought up! We'll post as many contributions as we can, and show off your stuff to the whole world!
We also want to hear what other fun places you've found on the Internet! Our Links Page has a lot of ideas, but have you found someplace new? Write us and tell us, and we'll post it, along with telling everyone who sent it in!
Now sending letters and artwork through the Internet isn't awfully hard, but it isn't awfully easy. You'll probably need to ask your parents to help with it.
The most important thing you need to know is our Electronic Mail Address, or our EMAIL ADDRESS. Ours is robert.mercer@pobox.com. All you might have to do is just click on that address, and your computer might automatically start your Internet Email program, like Eudora, or Windows 95 Exchange, or some other program you have on your computer. Or maybe you have to go start up your Mail program yourself, and type in our email address.Once you've figured out how to start the mail program, now you can type in whatever you want. The mail you send us doesn't get put on the Web Page by itself; first we have to read it and decide how to post it. But we'll try to do that as soon as we can. One thing is for sure, and that is we'll send you a note back as soon as we get your mail, so if you haven't heard from us for a few days after you send something to us, you might want to give us a telephone call to make sure your mail sender is working.
Sending art work is a little bit harder, but it's worth it. After you make a picture or a drawing in Paintbrush or Paintshop or something else, you need to save it on your computer. Make a note of what you called your picture, and the whole address of where it is on your computer, like C:\WINDOWS\MYART.BMP, or maybe A:\MYART.PIC or something. To send it to us, you just start to write us a letter, but then you tell your mail program to "attach" the art file to the letter. Every mail program is different, but they all let you "attach" files to the letters you write.
So write us a letter, and "attach" your art file to the letter, and mail it to us! None of this is easy the first time you do it, but once you know how, it gets real easy, and if you know how to send letters and pictures to us, you'll know how to send them to anyone!
And that's all there is to talking back to the Nichols Hills Elementary School Internet Web Page! Let us hear from you, and tell us what you think!
